A comprehensive set of dashboards provide insights into the taxa that occur in your region. Manage taxonomy including synonyms, endemism, Red Data Book status, tags and more.

what does it do

BIMS is principally used by scientists, resource managers and decision makers to understand the distribution of taxa - past and present.

Researchers can easily extract occurrence data using our intuitive web mapping interface.

how does it work

When you sign up on the platform, you create a new organisation, create users and upload taxon lists, occurrence data and other contextual data to build your platform.

The platform is fully themeable - add your organisation logo and colours to make the platform your own.

open platform

BIMS is open source (AGPL) and has an open platform approach. BIMS is the brain child of the Fresh Water Research Center and Kartoza.

Together we built the platform under contract for our clients who kindly wanted to share the outcome of this work with the world.
